Griūtis

€250.00

Griūtis (Lithuanian for Collapse) - a work representing perfection in imperfection, greatness in mistake. Mastering one's craft is a long, hilly road, and the challenges that test the fortitude of spirit and self-confidence are being encountered perhaps even more often than the heartwarming results of hard work. There is only one thing in the creator's will - the ability to adapt to the situation and see new opportunities to expand one's vision in it. Griūtis was born from a near failure - when the planned vase began to collapse, efforts were made to save the work by giving it a new form. In its unexpected shape, the work acquired one of the most original images in the ranks of dega works - shifting, unpredictable, dynamic. It's as if the collapse is caught and frozen in time.

This one of a kind ceramic piece is entirely handbuilt & handcrafted. The surface is kept raw, unglazed, leaving the natural texture of rough black chamotte clay sensible. Glazed inside. High-fired at 1200°C.

Dimensions: H 33cm x Ø 21cm

ORDER INFORMATION: Please be noted that if you want to purchase the piece you must contact the artist personally via email - dega.handbuilt@gmail.com. Add to cart function is not available, all orders are made by direct contact.
